Lumi Tuomi is a Finnish-Karelian visual artist. They work with photography, textile and hair-based works, and is inspired by the crossing of Karelian handcraft and contemporary art.

At the heart of Tuomi’s artistic practice is unveiling unseen and hidden narratives. They work in intersections of photography and craft, performativity and authenticity, and the precious and discarded. In Tuomi’s multidisciplinary works, hair is used as a material and a storyteller alongside photography, weaving their work into a physical archive of relationships, Karelian heritage and intergenerational phenomena.

They identify as non-binary and queer. They are currently studying master’s degree in Photography in Aalto University and graduated previously from the photography department of Royal Academy of Art (KABK) in 2021.
